About Us

Hi there!

Josha is a woman-founded, woman-owned, and woman-run company that is passionate about booksstories, and the power of words to change lives. Unfortunately, the traditional publishing landscape has a high barrier to entry and leaves a lot of powerful voices with important messages without a chance to get their books into readers’ hands.

That’s where we come in.

We want to change the way publishing is done, giving full and fair consideration to every author and making sure the stories that inspire, encourage, and empower are given a voice.

Everything we do here is through a lens of integrity, passion, and purpose:

Integrity – We publish authors and works we believe in. Prior published works, sales history, and number of social media followers have no impact on a book’s quality and no role in our publishing decisions.

Passion – Books—good books—are what we find most exciting. There’s nothing in life quite like discovering a unique voice or story and collaborating to get the polished work into readers’ hands.

Purpose  – Words can be powerful and have the ability to transform lives. Here at Josha Publishing, we believe in seeking out works that will leave their mark on the world, leaving it a better place.

We don’t believe in following the status quo; instead, we believe in disrupting it in order to effect positive change in the world. We also believe in exercising compassion and understanding in all things and providing a voice to the voiceless. That’s why you’ll find we gravitate toward those painful stories that have previously lived in silence.

Our logo is a visual representation of our values. In the words of Glennon Doyle, we at Josha are “goddamned cheetahs.” We’re healing and remembering our wild, as Glennon calls it, and we strive to connect with the world around us, through community and nature alike. We’re constantly evolving, becoming truer and more beautiful versions of ourselves, like the butterfly on the cheetah’s face. Our values include kindness and compassion for all, with a respect for the glorious imperfections that make each one of us beautifully human.
